The Trailblaze Challenge is a 28.3 miles hike where participants can tackle the Foothills Trail, all in one amazing day. This is a hike, not a race, and caters to all levels from novice to advanced outdoor enthusiasts. This challenge helps raise much needed funds to grant the wishes of children in South Carolina with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy.

My wife and I completed our Trailblaze Challenge this weekend– 28+ miles through the hills of North and South Carolina over 13+ hours. Such a humbling experience, both physically and mentally, that truly puts into perspective the struggle facing all Wish Kids and their families. It was a journey we will never forget. Thanks so much to our sponsors, including Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, P.A. PA for their generous donation and support through this adventure. With the help of all of you the Trailblaze Challenge has raised over $360,000 (and counting) for Make-a-Wish Foundation.
I am so glad Julie Moore Rode convinced me to take this adventure, and I am so impressed by her perseverance and determination to the cause despite the physical toll of being a new mom and the emotional toll of having to leave our little guy (for the first time) with grandma for the weekend. So proud to call her my wife! Our bodies ache but our hearts are full and our spirits rejuvenated.
Thanks again to everyone who made it possible. You should all be proud of the great things we have accomplished together to give hope and joy to so many kids and their families making a difficult trek on their live’s trail.
