Matthew S. Byzet grew up in Lexington, KY and graduated from Butler University where he was a member of the baseball team before earning his J.D. from Charleston School of Law.

After law school, Matt began his career with a local law firm, practicing primarily in construction litigation, premises liability and insurance defense.

Matt joined Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, P.A., in August 2014 as an associate in the firm’s construction and civil litigation practice groups. In 2021, he has now taken on the role of Partner at the firm where he continues his practice. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has received the CALI Award for Legal Research and Writing, Construction Law and Intellectual Property. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and before the U.S. District Court of South Carolina. Matt was named to Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2021-2023.

Matt is his wife Piper Reiff Byzet live on James Island, and have a son and daughter, Wendal and Clancy.
