Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, P.A. Announces Two New Partners

The Charleston-based law firm of Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, P.A. is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew S. Byzet and Thomas J. Rode to the position of partner.

“Matt has been an integral part of the team for a little over seven years now. He is smart, hard-working, and fiercely dedicated to our clients and we are proud to welcome him as a partner,” says founding member and partner Jesse A. Kirchner.

Byzet has practiced law with Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, P.A. since August 2014, focusing his practice on construction and civil litigation. He earned his Juris doctorate from Charleston School of Law, received the CALI Award for Legal Research and Writing, Construction Law and Intellectual Property, and was named to Super Lawyers Rising Stars 2021.

Rode joined the firm in 2013 as a key component of the firm’s civil litigation and appellate practice groups. He also represents clients in both state and federal trial courts on a variety of business and contract disputes, including mechanic’s liens and construction-related litigation. His practice also includes insurance coverage and bad faith claims as well as property disputes, condemnation proceedings, and electronic surveillance/wiretapping claims.

Rode graduated magna cum laude from Charleston School of Law, where he served on the editorial board for the Federal Courts Law Review and was named to Super Lawyers Risings Stars 2018.
